![]() ![]() The other thing that offended myself personally more is: One of my favourite things they did was the "Server Down Show" a weekly 20 - 30 minutes show that focused on MMOs and Online Gaming in general and aired Tuesday evening (?) when the World of Warcraft servers were down for maintanance. The comments under most of their articles are usually about as pleasant as the comment section of a YouTube video. Eversince then the Community has turned worse and have made a habit of searching for every small typo and complaining about every article in general. Yeah, Gamestar is okay but over the last few years most of the writers have moved on to other stuff and were replaced by much younger people. They also published a now infamous review of the original Doom that spawned the "If only you could talk to the monsters" meme. I'll offer a retrospective of the weirdest Action Half-Life map ever made by a one-time writer that I think showcases the best the site has to offer.ītw, EDGE is also a bit notorious for being hard to please and somewhat elitist, but I haven't been really following them for a while now. The humour is admittedly hit and miss at times, so it may not be all to your liking. As such, you'll find that a great deal of the content is firmly tongue in cheek. It's basically a fancy term for an effort to consciously personalise games writing and not shy away from subjectivity and humour. RPS has been a forerunner of the so-called "New Games Journalism", a term coined by British journalist Kieron Gillen who was a founder and regular contributor to the site but left a few years ago. Now, they don't always hit the mark and they've had their fair share of disagreeable or just sub-par content, but I'll take their articles any day of the week over what usually seems to pass as journalism nowadays. Skycyle made a good argument, but I'll add that I've been a longtime reader of RPS since not long after they started almost a decade ago, and I still find the actual quality of the writing there, as a whole, exceptional in gaming press circles. Update: First hands-on review by RockPaperShotgun I guess it's safe to say we'll get it first on GOG before the inevitable Steam release.(That came as a surprise!). The original version already scales well up to 2560 x 1440 with mods (would crash when I tried to run it at 4K), but I'm still looking forward to this version as it will offer better UI scaling at the very least and presumably include other updates. A Planescape For Today: The Enhanced Edition includes modern features such as tab highlighting, area zooming, combat log, quickloot, and more!īy Beamdog (ex Bioware), the people who made the Enhanced Editions of Baldur's Gate 1 + 2 and Icewind Dale.4K Interface: Sigil has never looked this good! The interface of Planescape: Torment has been rebuilt in high definition with tons of new convenience features.Remastered Music: The full Planescape: Torment soundtrack has been remastered in-game to add more depth to Sigil and the multiverse.Enhanced Planescape: Chris Avellone, Lead Designer on Planescape Torment, has partnered with Beamdog to curate gameplay updates, bug fixes, and enhancements to best capture his original vision for the game. ![]() Well guess what mate, 20 year old infinity engine games are a tough sell on mobile phones no matter which way you cut it, and the sooner Beamdog accept the limitations of their sole valuable IP, the sooner they can start to understand the subtleties required when remastering other peoples work.Release Date: 11 Apr, 2017 | Steam $19.99 | GOG 30% off if you own the original ($13.99), expired 4 April. I reckon you're pinning your hopes on the android market and every build is based around that platform. You've also somehow managed to go from bicubic to bilinear filtering, who on earth could think why. This is obvious to all thinking adults (excepting the idiotic fans who will predictably defend anything you do). You're meant to be remastering a classic. The reason people want to do it is the tone deaf ui changes which the team has made. The option is rightly there for 1.3 on GoG, why not IWD? This is about 5 minutes work and can have no possible negative implications as it is opt in. Originally posted by Julius Borisov:Ok, I've followed up. ![]()
